Sight
Look
at the drawing; clearly, it's a duck's head. Wait, look again, the bill
becomes a pair of ears, transforming the duck into a rabbit. Optical illusions
are reminders that things aren't always what they seem. What is seen often
depends on who is doing the looking. I may not see what you see, and God
sees things neither of us may see. While we tend to tolerate or overlook
sin, God hates the sight of it. He is able to see into our hearts and
determine what is there.
Living
the Christian life means trusting in a God we cannot see. We walk by faith
(see faith) not by sight. Every time we pray, we are confident
that he is listening and that he will answer. Faith also means trusting
him with our unknowns, even in our most confusing times. We live out this
trust by making decisions based on what God says is true, rather than
by what we feel or think. We know that God sees the future even more clearly
than we see the present.
God
will not tolerate wickedness in his sight.
